Embodied Agent
Definition
AI systems that interact with the physical world through a physical body. These can include: robots, virtual assistants, etc.
Unlike traditional AI systems, embodied agents have a physical presence in the world that can interact with the environment directly.
Benefits
- They can learn and adapt to environment more effectively that disembodied AI systems.
- They can interact with the world in a more natural way.
- They can be used to solve problem that are difficult or impossible for disembodied AI agents to solve.
Challenges
- Expensive to develop and maintain.
- Difficult to control.
- Unsafe if not designed or used properly.
- Still a new branch of study, so not fully verified and used in deployment in industry.
