Botnet
Definition
Network of internet-connected devices that have been infected with malicious software and are controlled as a group, typically without owners' knowledge.
Infected devices called "bots" or "zombies".
Controller of botnet known as "bot herder" or "botmaster" can remotely control bots to carry out various tasks.
They are often created through the exploitation of security vulnerabilities in software or by tricking users.
Compromised devices are recruited into the botnet and can be used to execute coordinated attacks.
Defending against botnets requires combination of proactive measures, software updates, antivirus softwares and practicing safe browsing habits.
